Pastoral Care

My name is Steve Durkac and I have the honor of serving as the pastor of Apostles Fellowship and am available to our community for pastoral care and conventional clergy services like prayer, pastoral counseling, wedding officiating, and funeral officiating.

I am an ordained evangelical minister, who since 2000 has been affiliated with both nondenominational and Southern Baptists churches and ministries, including membership with First Baptist Tillman’s Corner, serving as Prayer Ministries Director with the Mobile Baptist Association and most recently as a hospital chaplain with Providence Hospital.

I have previously served as a pastor and ordained minister with the Adventist denomination and I hold degrees in religion and pastoral ministry from Southern Adventist University, a masters in pastoral counseling and post-graduate Clinical Pastoral Education with University Hospital and Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida.

CHAPLAIN’S HEART…

It was while working as a hospital chaplain that I began to sense a need for a small group approach and a non-traditional church fellowship for a community that largely claims Christianity, but does not frequent church attendance.

My personal church experience, ministry, and training as a hospital chaplain allows me to understand various faith backgrounds, religious beliefs systems, and familiarity with denominational issues that may hinder congregational involvement or spiritual growth.

You will find that I take the pastoral position of allowing you to grow in grace, knowledge, and convictions according the Holy Spirit’s influence upon your own spiritual frame of reference, while presenting the solutions from Scripture as they’ve work for me and others.

PERSONAL STUFF…

I am the author of several books, including How to Pray: A Pocket Guide to the Four Principles of Prayer Taught by Jesus. I live in west Mobile, Alabama with my beautiful wife Stephanie, two of my four children, our family pet Keef, and photos of two grandchildren. In addition to my pastoral care ministries with Apostles Fellowship, I can be found officiate weddings along the beaches of the Gulf Coast or speaking to banquets audiences on the topic of love and laughter.
